Practice Information and Professional Experience

I offer both short and long-term individual psychotherapy for a variety of problems, including depression, anxiety, relationship problems, eating disorders and trauma issues (physical or sexual abuse).  My therapy approach draws on psychoanalytic, interpersonal and family systems theories.  As indicated, I might also suggest more cognitive-behavioral strategies for coping with specific symptoms.

I have previously worked in the following settings:

Pre-doctoral clerkships:  Alcohol Rehabilitation Unit, VA Hospital, St. Cloud, MN (1977-1980).

Pre-doctoral Internship:  USC Medical Center, Los Angeles, CA (1980-81).

Post-doctoral Fellowship:  San Fernando Valley Child Guidance Center, Northridge, CA (1981-82).

Staff Psychologist:  Orange County Children's Services, Santa Ana, CA (1982-85).

Staff Psychologist:  Hall Health Center, Psychiatric Out-patient Clinic, University of WA, Seattle, WA (1985-88).

I have been in private practice since 1988, and am on the clinical faculty of the Psychology Department at the University of Washington.  I am also a member of the American Psychological Association, the Washington State Psychological Association, the Northwest Alliance for Psychoanalytic Studies, and the Pacific Northwest Psychoanalytic Society.
